The Schools Division Office of Olongapo City puts premium importance in intensifying information dissemination to all stakeholders on how to be safe in the online world through the Division Training Workshop on Cyber Safety in Schools held on November 21-22, 2019 at Traveler’s Hotel, SBMA. This was participated by the Public Schools District Supervisors, School Heads and Guidance Counselors/Designates and Child Protection Committee Focal Persons all public schools.
The training had dedicated sessions on Cyber Safety topics discussed by experts in the field. Among the topics and the speakers are: Overview on Child Online Protection ( COP) And Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) by Ms. Evangeline Manalansan, Master Teacher I of Olongapo City National High School, Core Online Protection and Handling COP Concerns by Ms. Mylene Manago, Teacher III, Sergia Soriano Esteban Integrated School of Kalaklan, Legal Basis of OSAEC and RA 9344 by Mr. Francis Bermido, Vice President of PREDA Foundation, Cyber Bullying and Psychological Intervention by Ms. Marsha Mojica, Guidance Counselor of Tapinac Senior High School, Child Protection Policy and How to Seek Help by Mr. Ricardo E. Ednave, Education Program Supervisor of Schools Governance and Operations Division and Support System by Dr. Selesthe B. Cahiwat, Guidance Counselor of Olongapo City National High School. The training also launched the learning modules consisting of three major components, Project for Keeps, Dalir-Eskwela and Chatbot with lesson plans which were discussed by Ms. Imelda D. Lacandili, Master Teacher I of Sta. Rita Elementary School.
This training was also graced by Madam Leilani Samson Cunanan, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent who stressed the importance of parent’s guidance in teaching their children to be responsible gadget user and Sir Enrique E. Angeles, Jr., Assistant Schools Division Superintendent who reiterated that it is a must to teach the children to be safe in the online world by embracing the premise “THINK before you CLICK”.
Simulation and workshops have made this training memorable and enjoyable as the School Heads and teachers acted out scenes culled from real situations in the school setting.
