In 2007, Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP) was launched by the Department of Education in partnership with the Department of Agriculture to promote the value of school gardening as contribution to the feeding program and raise awareness to have a locally grown vegetables and crops that will benefit the community.
With the challenges brought by the COVID 19 Pandemic, the Department of Agriculture has remained steadfast in its advocacy to support and sustain “Gulayan sa Paaralan” by providing garden tools and equipment including seedlings to eleven (11) schools at SDO Olongapo City and these are:New Cabalan Elementary School, Iram I Elementary School, Iram High School, Olongapo City Elementary School, Old Cabalan Integrated School, Gordon Heights II Elementary School, Sta. Rita High School, Barretto II Elementary School, Nellie E. Brown Elementary School, Asinan Elementary School and Olongapo City National High School. The schools mentioned received wheel barrows, fertilizers, and other tools.
SDO Olongapo City has been very thankful of this advocacy of the Department of Agriculture to keep the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program sustainable throughout the years.
