The Department of Education (DepEd) Olongapo City Division, along with all 40 public schools in the city, is set to participate in the nationwide earthquake drill today. This initiative highlights the importance of disaster preparedness, particularly in educational institutions where thousands of students and teaching and non-teaching personnel are present.
With the aim of fostering a culture of safety and readiness, the drill will simulate earthquake scenarios to train individuals on the proper protocols during seismic events. DepEd Olongapo City’s active involvement highlights the critical role that schools play in protecting the lives of children and teachers. School administrators, teachers, and students will engage in coordinated drills to practice swift evacuations, safe assembly procedures, and emergency response techniques.
This nationwide effort, which involves sectors beyond education, calls attention to the pressing need for swift and decisive action during earthquakes. By participating in the drill, schools across Olongapo City are not only aligning with national safety protocols but also setting a precedent for other communities to prioritize disaster preparedness.
Local authorities, together with school officials, urge the public to remain vigilant and ensure they are familiar with safety measures during earthquakes, as these can save lives. As the drill unfolds today, DepEd Olongapo City reiterates its commitment to the welfare of its students and staff, highlighting that preparedness is key to reducing the risks posed by natural disasters.
