Olongapo City, Philippines – On December 30, 2024, the Department of Education Olongapo proudly participated in the grand City Fiesta Parade, an annual celebration that brings together the community in a colorful display of talent, unity, and festivity. Spearheaded by Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ilynne Samonte, the parade featured a variety of exciting highlights that captured the attention of Olongapeños.
One of the standout moments in the parade was the exposure of the Mr. & Ms. DepEd, who represented the Department in a display of charm and pride. Alongside are the reigning Miss Grand International 2024, Miss Olongapo 2024, and Munting Mutya ng Olongapo who added glamour and grace to the parade, embodying the beauty and spirit of the city. The festivities were further elevated by the highly anticipated participation of Mr. Gerald Anderson, the star guest during the City Fiesta whose appearance drew cheers from fans who lined the streets.
Another exciting feature of the parade was the exhibition of the Drum and Lyre teams from various schools and groups, each offering rhythmic performances that energized the crowd. In addition to that, one of the most joyous aspects of the parade was the candy-throwing from the floats. As the colorful floats passed by, children eagerly picked up the candies tossed by the float passengers, adding an element of fun and excitement for the younger attendees.
The City Fiesta Parade, with the participation of DepEd Olongapo, was a beautiful fusion of education, entertainment, and community engagement. Through the leadership of Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ilynne Samonte and the enthusiasm of all participants, the event highlighted the unity and creativity of Olongapo’s residents, leaving everyone in high spirits as they celebrated the city’s vibrant culture.
