The DPED-NEU 2nd Director’s Cup, held from June 5 to 7, 2024, was a resounding success, bringing together 21 Schools Divisions and the Regional Office for a spirited competition at the Iba Sports Complex. The event kicked off with a vibrant parade, setting the tone for three days of intense athletic contests among Clusters A, B, C, and D.
The SDO Olongapo Mixed Volleyball team emerged victorious in Clusters A & B, showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork. Their impressive performance earned them the Silver Award in the overall championship, along with well-deserved cash incentives.
The event was graced by the presence and unwavering support of key educational leaders including the Regional Director, Dr. May Eclar, Regional NEU President, Bonn Manuel, Dr. Imelda P. Macaspac, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. William Roderick Fallorin, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, SGOD Chief Ricardo Ednave, SDO NEU President, Dr. Jeremy Calica and Admin Officer V, Juvimin Mustar. These officials were seen cheering enthusiastically for the non-teaching participants in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton.
Participants expressed deep gratitude to their sponsors for making the event possible. Special thanks were extended to City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino, Jr., Congressman Jay Khonghun, Brgy. Capt. Erwin Sionson, and Brgy. Capt. Echie Ponge, Sir Saturnino “Ting” Dumlao for their generous support. They also expressed sincere gratitude to the kitchen crews who prepared sumptuous meals for 3 days; and to Dr. Richard Elacio and Dr. Williane Cajudo for being there as their medic.
Additionally, players conveyed their appreciation to the Regional NEU for organizing this competition, which united athletes from across Central Luzon, and to the National NEU for their financial assistance.
The SDO Zambales hosted this year’s cup, ensuring a well-coordinated and enjoyable experience for all attendees. The event highlighted the importance of sports in fostering camaraderie and physical fitness among educational staff, promising an even more exciting Director’s Cup in the years to come.
