Olongapo City, July 23, 2024 — A significant gathering of 121 private school teachers from Kinder I, Kinder II, and Grade IV convened at the Elementary Department Social Hall of St. Joseph College-Olongapo, Inc. for an insightful plenary session on the MATATAG curriculum. The event was spearheaded by Dr. Eleonor C. Cayabyab, the CID Chief of the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Olongapo City, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on the key features, development process, and the driving reasons behind the formation of the MATATAG curriculum.
Dr. Cayabyab’s session laid the groundwork for a series of productive discussions and collaborative activities. Following the plenary, the participants were divided into breakout groups according to their grade levels and subject areas. These sessions were expertly facilitated by Head Teachers, Principals, and Supervisors from SDO Olongapo City, ensuring that each group received tailored insights and guidance relevant to their specific teaching contexts.
The seminar provided a platform for teachers to deepen their understanding of the MATATAG curriculum and explore practical applications within their classrooms. The collaborative nature of the breakout sessions fostered an environment of shared learning and professional development.
Simultaneously, at Columban College, 79 Grade 7 teachers were engaged in a parallel seminar on the MATATAG curriculum, reflecting the coordinated effort across different educational levels to ensure comprehensive teacher preparation and curriculum implementation.
The successful seminar at St. Joseph College-Olongapo highlights the commitment of SDO Olongapo City to enhancing the quality of education through strategic curriculum development and teacher training. This initiative marks a significant step towards achieving educational excellence in the region.
