Teaching and non-teaching personnel of public schools in Olongapo City received their Research and Development Allowance from the Special Education Fund on December 17, 2019 at the SDO Conference Hall. It was spearheaded by the Honorable City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. together with the personnel from the finance division. Approximately less than 5.5 Million Pesos were distributed to all qualified recipients who received cash ranging from Php 500-Php 2,500 depending on the number of months served in their respective schools. This covered the months of August to December 2019 and comprised 50% of the total allocation. The other 50% of the grant was already given during the celebration of World Teachers Day last October 6, 2019.
Indeed, this is an early Christmas treat to all recipients as the beloved Mayor arrived first hour in the morning and warmly greeted all the School Heads. He sincerely expressed his very strong support to teachers in particular and stressed that the Research and Development Allowance is one of the eligible expenditures in the Special Education Fund. In response, the Schools Division Superintendent SDO Olongapo City, Madam Leilani Samson Cunanan delivered her words of gratitude for the grant given and stressed that she will intensify the institutionalization of research among schools by staging more research activities. Further, she reiterated that application of research must be part of the process to determine its impact to the school and community.
