Olongapo City, Philippines – The rich history and vibrant culture of Olongapo City came alive on stage during the highly anticipated musical play, Olongapo, Isang Pagbabalik-Tanaw. Held from January 8 to 11, 2025, at the prestigious SMX Convention Center, this four-day extravaganza captivated audiences and showcased the immense talent of learners and educators from DepEd Olongapo City.
Directed by the dynamic duo of Mark Manuel and Dr. Lovella M. Jarobel, OIC Assistant Principal of Kalalake National High School, this four-day event brought to life the rich heritage and stories of Olongapo City through the eyes and talents of DepEd Olongapo learners and educators.
The musical play was a celebration of Olongapo’s unique history and vibrant community spirit. The production featured stellar performances from students and educators who showcased their talents in acting, singing, and dancing, seamlessly blending traditional Filipino values with modern storytelling techniques.
Over the four days, the musical drew approximately 15,000 thousands of attendees, including educators, parents, and community members, who lauded the production for its artistic excellence and educational impact. The play was more than just entertainment—it served as a platform for students to discover and nurture their creative potential, fostering a love for the arts while preserving Olongapo’s cultural identity.
The event also emphasized the role of arts in education, providing students with a platform to develop their skills in acting, singing, and dancing while instilling values of teamwork and discipline.
As the curtains fell on the final performance, the applause resonated throughout the SMX Convention Center, marking Olongapo, Isang Pagbabalik-Tanaw as a resounding success and a cultural milestone for the city.
This musical play serves as a reminder that the past is not just a memory but a direction to the future that will make youth of Olongapo City ready to carry its legacy forward with pride and passion.
