by Arlene DelaRea

LAOAG, ILOCOS NORTE — At just 11 years old, Sheena Jilliane Ty has once again proven that she is a force to be reckoned with in the world of rhythmic gymnastics. Competing in the Palarong Pambansa 2025 held in Ilocos Norte, Sheena dazzled spectators and judges alike as she claimed five gold medals and one silver in the Girls Elementary Pre-Junior (Rhythmic Gymnastics) category.

A proud Grade 6 pupil at the Special Program in Education for the Gifted (SPED-G) in Kalayaan, SBFZ, under the Schools Division Office of Olongapo City, Sheena showed extraordinary grace and power in each routine—her movements described by many as flawless and magical.

She bagged gold medals in the Ball, Freehand, Rope, and Hoop events, each one adding to her already glittering track record of consecutive wins from 2024 to 2025. She also clinched her third straight gold medal in the Individual All-Around (IAA), marking a three-peat victory that dates back to 2023. Her only silver came from the Team event, where she shared the podium with fellow gymnasts Miquel Carmelli Escalona and Ryewenn Mei Santos, proudly representing Team Central Luzon.

Sheena’s consistent dominance was also evident during the 2024 Palarong Pambansa held in Cebu, where she impressively swept all six medals at stake in Rhythmic Gymnastics. For her unmatched performance, she was adjudged the Most Bemedaled Female Athlete of the competition—a title that firmly cemented her status as a national standout.

Earlier this year, Sheena also dominated the CLRAA Meet in Tarlac, sweeping six gold medals—a clear sign that her excellence isn’t just a fleeting moment but a consistent standard.

Judges across competitions continue to favor Sheena, not just for her technical mastery but for the artistry and poise she brings to the mat. Her performances captivate audiences, and her dedication inspires both peers and aspiring gymnasts.

No longer just a hometown hero of Olongapo City, Sheena Jilliane Ty has become a national icon in gymnastics. Dubbed as “the most coveted gymnast in the Philippines,” she carries not only the pride of her city but of an entire nation.

As the spotlight shines brighter on this young prodigy, the future of Philippine gymnastics looks more promising than ever.
