Partner Institutions Unite through MOU Signing for the E-Komiks to Animated Komiks Initiative

The Schools Division Office of Olongapo City recently conducted an Orientation and Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Fifty (50) E-Komiks copyrighted by the National Library of the Philippines (NLP), as part of the Animated Komiks initiative. The event was led by Dr. Raquel F. Queyquep, LRMDS Supervisor, together with Ms. Baby Lea C. Divino, Project Development Officer II (PDO II), and Ms. Mary Onyx M. Umayam, Librarian II. The LRMDS Team is grateful for the support of Dr. Imelda P. Macaspac, Schools Division Superintendent, Ms. Ilynne S. Samonte, CESE, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, and Dr. Eleonor C. Cayabyab, CID Chief; whose leadership has been instrumental in advancing this initiative. Special thanks are extended to Ma’am Arelene E. Dela Rea, Senior Education Program Specialist, for her contributions.

Ms. Divino outlined the project’s objectives and its expected impact, particularly in supporting DepEd’s Digital Rise initiative by integrating digital technologies into education.

Highlight of the event was the MOU signing, which formally established a partnership between the Schools Division Office of Olongapo City and leading academic institutions specializing in digital animation, multimedia, and computer studies.

Among the key contributors to the initiative are four private institutions: Columban College, Inc., represented by Engr. Noel Yap, Dean of the College of Computer Studies; St. Benilde Center for Global Competence, Inc., represented by Ms.  Mary Joanne Olino, Computer Studies Department Head, and Ms. Aurora A. Famadulan, SHS Focal Person; Mondriaan Aura College – Subic Bay, led by Engr. Jonjon M. Rayala, SHS Principal, and Mr. Jeromie M. Echague, SHS ICT Coordinator; and Gordon College, represented by Dr. Erlinda Casela-Abarintos, Dean of the College of Computer Studies, and Mr. Ronnie D. Luy, Assistant Dean of CCS and BSEMC Program Coordinator. Additionally, New Cabalan Senior High School, a public institution, was represented by Dr. Erwin A. Bucasas, Principal, and Ms Sharon Pura, NCSHS Teacher II.

SDO Olongapo City expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all partner institutions, especially their students, for sharing their skills and knowledge, contributing to the success of this collaborative initiative.

The E-Komiks to Animated Komiks (E2A) Initiative will enhance learning through dynamic visual storytelling, incorporating animations, sound effects, and voiceovers. Aligned with DepEd’s Digital Rise program, it promotes digital education by leveraging the expertise of students and partner institutions. Through collaboration, the Schools Division Office of Olongapo City, and its partners are driving digital transformation in education.
