SDO Olongapo Conducts Groundbreaking GAD Seminar in Boracay for Non-Teaching Personnel

by Arlene Dela Rea

Boracay, Philippines – In a historic move to promote adventure, wellness, and work-life balance among its non-teaching personnel, the Schools Division Office of Olongapo conducted its first-ever Gender and Development (GAD) seminar outside Region 3. Held from April 30 to May 2, 2025, the seminar took place in the scenic island of Boracay and was attended by 140 enthusiastic participants.

This landmark initiative was spearheaded by the dynamic OIC-Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Imelda P. Macaspac, whose vision was to offer a holistic developmental experience that goes beyond the confines of the usual seminar setting. By choosing Boracay as the venue, the division underscored its commitment to not just professional growth, but also the personal well-being of its employees.

The three-day seminar featured two distinguished speakers. Ms. Masha Mojica captivated the audience with her discussion on “Wellness of Personnel”, highlighting strategies for mental, emotional, and physical health in the workplace. Meanwhile, Atty. Gene Vincent Perez delivered an insightful talk on “Safe Space in the Workplace”, emphasizing the importance of respect, inclusion, and protection from harassment and discrimination.

Participants not only gained valuable knowledge and insights from the sessions but also enjoyed rejuvenating island adventures that strengthened camaraderie and morale. The seminar was marked by moments of laughter, learning, and leisure, leaving all attendees refreshed and recharged.

The success of the event was evident as personnel returned to work with bright smiles and a renewed sense of purpose—proof that happiness, wellness, and professional growth can indeed go hand in hand.

This Boracay GAD seminar marks a milestone in SDO Olongapo’s ongoing commitment to gender empowerment, mental wellness, and balanced professional life for all its employees.
