The Department of Education Central Office formally led the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the construction of the proposed 4-Storey, 12-Classroom LGU-Implemented School Building for Olongapo City National High School (OCNHS) on May 20, 2026 at the DepEd Central Office – TechZone Building in Makati City.
The significant undertaking marks another milestone in the Department’s continuing efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and improve learning environments for Filipino learners through strong collaboration with local government units. The project will be implemented by the Local Government Unit of Olongapo City in partnership with the Department of Education.
The proposed four-storey school building, which will house twelve classrooms, is expected to help address classroom shortages and accommodate the increasing student population of Olongapo City National High School. Once completed, the facility will provide learners and teachers with safer, more resilient, and more conducive spaces that support quality teaching and meaningful learning experiences.
Present during the ceremonial signing were Undersecretary Peter Irving C. Corvera, Assistant Secretary Aurelio Paulo “AP” Bartolome, Olongapo City Mayor Hon. Rolen C. Paulino Jr., Councilor Hon. Benjamin G. Cajudo II, Schools Division Superintendent Imelda P. Macaspac, PhD, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ilynne S. Samonte, Engr. Justin Charles C. Espiritu, Mr. Erwin Lozano, and other officials and stakeholders from both the Department of Education and the City Government of Olongapo.
During the event, officials expressed their collective support and commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the project, recognizing its importance in enhancing the delivery of basic education services in the city.
The initiative reflects the strong partnership between the DepEd Central Office and the City Government of Olongapo in promoting accessible, inclusive, and quality education through sustainable infrastructure development. It also underscores the shared vision of national and local government agencies in investing in the future of Olongapo City learners through the continuous improvement of public-school facilities.
As the project moves forward, the Schools Division Office of Olongapo City remains optimistic that the new school building will contribute significantly to the academic growth, welfare, and overall learning experience of OCNHS students for years to come.
