A Blessed Milestone: Regional Director Mallari Visits Gordon Heights NHS Language Proficiency Center

By Loreta Figueroa

Olongapo City, January 28, 2029 – The Gordon Heights National High School community, led by School Head Nenita Habionada and Public Schools District Supervisor Samson Buqueron, was filled with gratitude and pride following the significant visit of Department of Education Region III Director Dr. Ronnie S. Mallari to Olongapo City. The visit centered on the utilization of the school’s newly established Language Proficiency Center, a facility that reflects the institution’s strong commitment to academic excellence and the continuous support of education leaders at various levels.

The visit took on a celebratory tone as Dr. Mallari personally inspected the facility and observed how it is being used to enhance the communication and language skills of learners. Designed as a specialized hub for language development, the center aims to strengthen students’ linguistic competence and confidence, equipping them with skills necessary for global competitiveness. The presence of the regional director served as both encouragement and affirmation of the school’s efforts to elevate the quality of instruction and learning experiences.

The successful establishment and effective operation of the Language Proficiency Center stand as a testament to the exemplary leadership of the Schools Division Superintendent of Olongapo City, Dr. Imelda P. Macaspac. Her competence and visionary management were key driving forces behind the realization of this initiative. Through her prudent stewardship and strategic use of resources, national and regional directives were not only fulfilled but implemented with excellence. Her leadership ensured that the facility is fully equipped to meet learners’ needs, transforming a vision into a tangible, world-class learning environment that embodies the principles of servant leadership.

The center’s existence also reflects the trust and recognition extended to Gordon Heights National High School as a performing institution. The idea to establish the Language Proficiency Center was originally recommended by Regional English Supervisor Dr. Ramil G. Ilustre, who recognized the school’s consistent academic performance and capacity to sustain such a facility. His recommendation underscored confidence in the school’s ability to further develop proficiency not only in English but also in other foreign languages, extending opportunities to learners from the Alternative Learning System and Senior High School. This inclusive approach ensures that students are language-ready as they progress academically and prepares them to meet the demands of a globally competitive environment.

For the teachers, students, and staff of Gordon Heights National High School, Dr. Mallari’s visit was more than a routine inspection—it was a meaningful validation of their dedication and collective efforts. Having a regional education leader witness firsthand the outcomes of their hard work was a profound honor and source of inspiration. The school community remains deeply grateful for the trust and support extended by Dr. Mallari, Dr. Macaspac, and Dr. Ilustre. As the Language Proficiency Center continues to serve its learners, Gordon Heights National High School looks forward with optimism and renewed commitment to reaching greater heights in education.
