OLONGAPO CITY —March 12, 2026. Personnel of the Department of Education – Schools Division Office of Olongapo City actively participated today in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) as part of the government’s continuing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and ensure the safety of employees in the event of an earthquake.

Led by Mr. Erwin A. Castillejo DRRM Coordinator, personnel simultaneously performed the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure—an essential safety practice that helps protect individuals during seismic events. Following the drill, employees also carried out an orderly evacuation procedure to the designated safe area in accordance with the office’s established emergency response protocols.

The activity was conducted in line with the national disaster preparedness program spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense, which aims to enhance awareness and readiness among institutions and communities for potential disasters, particularly earthquakes.

Officials from SDO Olongapo emphasized the importance of regularly conducting such drills to help personnel become familiar with proper emergency response procedures and to minimize panic during actual disaster situations.
The active participation and discipline demonstrated by the personnel highlighted the office’s strong commitment to the principle of disaster preparedness and collective safety.

Through continued participation in disaster preparedness initiatives like the NSED, SDO Olongapo City reinforces a culture of readiness and responsibility in the face of potential natural hazards.
