By: Arlene Dela Rea

Bangal, Olongapo City — December 1, 2025

Three newly constructed classroom buildings were formally turned over to public schools in Olongapo City in a ceremony held at Bangal Integrated School on December 1, 2025. The project was made possible through the generosity of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of its continuing support for public education.

The donated school buildings were awarded to the following institutions:

  • Bangal Integrated School, donated by Mr. Tiong Del Rosario
  • New Cabalan Elementary School, donated by Mr. Lorenzo Cabilangan
  • Gordon Heights II Elementary School, also donated by Mr. Lorenzo Cabilangan

Both donors are active members of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber and have been consistent partners of DepEd in improving school facilities across the city.

The overall coordination of all donations for Olongapo City was spearheaded by Mr. Carlos Co, President of the Olongapo City Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Co served as the primary point of contact, overseeing the completion and turnover of the buildings and ensuring the needs of the recipient schools were properly addressed.

The turnover ceremony featured acceptance messages from the principals of the three beneficiary schools namely: Mr. Nestor Sison of Bangal Integrated School, Dr. Marites Calara of New Cabalan Elementary School and Ms. Jennifer Jayne De Julio of Gordon Heights II Elementary School

Each expressed heartfelt gratitude to the donors, highlighting the positive impact the new buildings will have in reducing classroom shortages and improving learning conditions for their students.

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Imelda P. Macaspac delivered an inspirational message during the ceremony, commending the Filipino-Chinese Chamber for its steady support. She also emphasized the continuing infrastructure needs of the division, noting that Bangal Integrated School still requires eight additional classrooms to accommodate its growing population from Junior High to Senior High School. Dr. Macaspac appealed to stakeholders and partners to continue supporting school-building initiatives in the city.

Parents and teachers also took part in the celebration. The School Parent-Teacher Association of Bangal Integrated School, led by SPTA President Manny Arcenal, helped prepare for the special occasion. In his message, Arcenal expressed profound appreciation for the “meaningful and worthwhile donation” that will benefit today’s learners and generations to come.

The ceremony concluded with a ribbon-cutting and a tour of the newly completed buildings—symbolizing another significant step forward in strengthening education infrastructure in Olongapo City through strong community partnership.
