Old Cabalan Integrated School (OCABIS) successfully hosted the 2026 Division Math Fair on February 27, 2026, bringing together learners from public elementary and secondary schools across the division to participate in various mathematics competitions aimed at enhancing their analytical and problem-solving skills.

Dr. Ruel D. Emberga, Education Program Supervisor in Mathematics, spearheaded the program and presented the statement of purpose and contest mechanics. He explained that the activity aims to provide learners with meaningful opportunities to apply mathematical concepts, strengthen their analytical thinking, and select representatives who will compete in the upcoming Regional Math Fair. He also encouraged the participants to give their best, reminding them that mathematics is not only about finding the right answer but also about developing perseverance, creativity, and confidence in solving real-life problems.

The program also featured the opening remarks of Amalia M. Abayan, Principal IV of OCABIS, who warmly welcomed the participants, coaches, and guests. She emphasized the importance of mathematics in education and encouraged the students to confidently showcase their talents in the various competitions.
During the program, Eleonor C. Cayabyab, EdD, CID Chief, highlighted the importance of strengthening learners’ mathematical competencies and encouraged students to develop perseverance and critical thinking in solving complex problems. Annie A. Montero, Public Schools District Supervisor, also inspired the participants to view mathematics as a vital skill that supports decision-making and everyday problem-solving.
The contest proper featured four categories: Mathematics Quiz Bee, Mathematics Trail, Rubik’s Cube, and Sudoku, where students demonstrated their knowledge, speed, and logical thinking. The event successfully fostered learners’ enthusiasm for mathematics and strengthened their confidence as they prepare to represent the division in higher-level competitions.

The 2026 Division Math Fair at OCABIS not only showcased the remarkable talents of young mathematicians but also reinforced the importance of critical thinking, perseverance, and creativity in learning. With the support of supervisors and mentors guiding the program, and the parents of the learners cheering them on, the event inspired students to embrace mathematics as both an academic pursuit and a practical life skill, preparing them to excel in future challenges at the regional and national levels.
