Olongapo City, June 18, 2026 – Employees of the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Olongapo City actively participated in the 2026 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) – 2nd Quarter conducted on June 18, 2026, at exactly 9:00 a.m. Philippine Standard Time, as part of the government’s continuing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience among personnel. The activity was spearheaded by the Schools Division Office Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Unit under the leadership and guidance of the Schools Division Superintendent Imelda P. Macaspac, PhD, and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ilynne S. Samonte, CESE.

Upon the commencement of the earthquake alarm, SDO employees promptly executed the prescribed earthquake response procedures, demonstrating discipline and preparedness by performing the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique before proceeding to the designated evacuation area. The drill also tested the effectiveness of the office’s evacuation protocols and emergency response mechanisms.

Following the simulation exercise, Mr. Juvimin O. Mustar, MCDRM, Administrative Officer V of the Administrative Services Unit, addressed the participants during the post-activity assessment. In his message, he commended the employees for their improved performance compared to previous earthquake drills, particularly highlighting their timely response and adherence to established safety procedures.
Mr. Mustar further emphasized the significance of the newly designated evacuation area, explaining that the change in venue is a necessary adjustment to address the current operational and safety requirements of the Schools Division Office. He underscored the importance of all personnel becoming fully familiar with the updated evacuation procedures to ensure a more organized and efficient response during actual emergencies.

Moreover, he reminded employees that mastering the proper execution of the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique is essential in minimizing risks and safeguarding lives in the event of a major earthquake. He encouraged everyone to continuously practice and internalize this procedure as a critical life-saving skill. The successful conduct of the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill reflects the commitment of SDO Olongapo City to fostering a culture of preparedness, safety, and resilience among its personnel, ensuring that they remain ready to act effectively to earthquake-related emergencies.
