Olongapo City, June 30, 2026 — Demonstrating a shared commitment to safer and more disaster-resilient schools, the Federated Parents-Teachers Association (FPTA) of the Schools Division Office of Olongapo City formally turned over Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) equipment to the Schools Division Office during a turnover ceremony held on June 30, 2026.

The activity marked the successful implementation of the FPTA Resolution authorizing the allocation of funds for the procurement of essential DRRM equipment worth One Hundred Sixty-Eight Thousand Pesos (₱168,000.00). The initiative underscores the strong partnership between the Department of Education and parents in promoting the safety and well-being of learners, teaching personnel, and non-teaching staff. This project was initiated by Sir Erwin Castillejo, Project Development Officer II.
The turnover ceremony was attended by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Imelda P. Macaspac, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ilynn s. Samonte, School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) Chief Ricardo E. Ednave, school heads from across the division, Federated PTA Officers spearheaded by Pres. Manny S. Arcenal, SocMob focal persons, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) focal persons.



The procured equipment includes portable metal detectors, fire extinguishers, fire bells, and drop-down fire switches, which will enhance the emergency preparedness and response capabilities of schools and offices throughout the division. These resources are expected to support schools in strengthening safety measures, improving emergency response mechanisms, and ensuring compliance with disaster preparedness standards.



In her message, the Schools Division Superintendent expressed gratitude to the Federated Parents-Teachers Association for its steadfast support of programs that safeguard the welfare of learners and school personnel. She emphasized that investing in safety equipment is an investment in creating secure learning environments where learners and educators can thrive with confidence.
FPTA officials likewise reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with the Schools Division Office in implementing programs that promote the protection, preparedness, and resilience of the entire school community. They highlighted that the project reflects the collective responsibility of parents and education stakeholders in building schools that are ready to respond to emergencies and disasters.
The turnover of DRRM equipment represents another milestone in the continuing partnership between the Schools Division Office of Olongapo City and the Federated Parents-Teachers Association, reinforcing their shared vision of cultivating a culture of safety, preparedness, and resilience in every school.
