by Glenn D. Tipay

Olongapo City — February 10, 2026

Sanyo Denki, one of the active stakeholders of the DepEd Olongapo City, conducted an orientation and administered a basic qualifying examination on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Asinan Elementary School. The activity was participated in by Senior High School and Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners from various DepEd Olongapo City schools who expressed interest in seeking employment with the company after graduation.

The event was formally opened and facilitated by Dr. Eleonor C. Cayabyab, Chief of the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) of DepEd Olongapo City. In her message, Dr. Cayabyab stressed the importance of partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for learners beyond the classroom.

The initiative forms part of Sanyo Denki’s partnership with DepEd to help prepare learners for employment and provide them with direct access to industry opportunities. During the orientation, company representatives introduced Sanyo Denki’s operations, workplace culture, job expectations, and potential career paths available to successful applicants.

Following the orientation, participating learners took a basic examination designed to assess fundamental skills and readiness for work in an industrial and manufacturing environment. The exam served as an initial screening step for applicants seeking consideration for future employment with the company.

Learners aged 18 years old and above also proceeded to interviews, where they were evaluated for possible job opportunities upon completion of their studies. The interview process allowed Sanyo Denki to assess further applicants’ qualifications, communication skills, and willingness to undergo training.

DepEd Olongapo City officials welcomed the activity, emphasizing its importance in strengthening school-to-work transitions for Senior High School and ALS learners. They emphasized that partnerships with private sector stakeholders like Sanyo Denki play a vital role in equipping learners with real-world exposure and employment prospects.

The activity at Asinan Elementary School highlights the shared commitment of DepEd Olongapo City and Sanyo Denki to support youth employment, skills development, and inclusive opportunities for learners preparing to enter the workforce after graduation.
